The Spot Hexagon Baby Blanket is a brand new design from Loves a good yarn.

The idea and pattern for this blanket grew from the colours of yarn that were used to create it so it is totally new and a Loves a good yarn original.

The pattern is created from stripes of hexagons with an open wheel effect in the centre, each stripe is either white or in colour, the colour stripes then have alternating colour spots at their centres. Half spot hexagons were then created to straighten off the edges ready for the edging, again done in alternating stripes of colour.

This makes this crochet blanket a visually striking piece whilst still keeping baby warm and snug.

This baby blanket is neat and compact, prefect for prams and cribs, as it measures 27″/69cm by 31.5″/80cm.

Made from soft acrylic baby yarn so it is beautifully soft yet durable whilst at the same time being easy to care for as it is fully machine washable on a 40 degree delicate/wool cycle.

Looking for a new scarf?

Then this might be the style for you, this scarf is not too long, it is long enough to wrap around your neck at least once and still have a couple of long tails to tuck inside your coat.

It is also long enough for that loop through style when folded in half.

This scarf is made  from 16 individually crocheted motifs, the centre of each has the traditional granny square stitch before changing to a more solid border designed as a change to the more commonly known Granny Square.

Each motif is then sewn invisibly to the next for a secure join and then the scarf is finished off with a 2 row border all around the outside.

This scarf measures 73″/185.5cm in length and 4.5″/11.5cm in width.

Made from 100% acrylic yarn for 2 reasons, its durability and its ease of care as this scarf is fully machine washable on a 30 degree delicate/wool wash.

If you like this item but would prefer a colour combination that is not shown then please do not hesitate to get in touch as I can make any item to order.

What kind of scarf person are you?

Do you prefer the smaller, neater type of scarf?  If so then the Mossburn Circular Crochet Scarf is for you.

The Mossburn Circular scarf has been designed and hand crocheted by Loves a good yarn. It is small circular scarf that will easily slip over your head but is just enough to fit in the neck of your coat and keep out any drafts without being too bulky.

The fabric of this scarf has a lacy open flexible nature, it is not too lacy so it will still be warm yet the fluidity of the fabric means it will not feel tight and uncomfortable around your neck.  Each end has then been finished off with a corded effect stitch to complete the design of the piece

Made from wonderfully soft acrylic yarn it will be both warm and durable as well as easy to care for as it is fully machine washable on a 40 degree delicate/wool cycle.

The Mossburn Circular scarf measures 27″/68.5cm around and is 8″/21cm deep.

Well its nearly the end of term for the school summer holidays which means its Teacher Thank you presents time too!

This year I have decided to make the teachers their presents as with 2 children in school, 8 presents would be bordering on expensive.  An apple for teacher is a familiar favourite so I decided to go further with this and make a cosy for an apple to stop it getting bruised before it is eaten.

IMG 7711 400 Free Pattern Apple Cosy/Pouch

I found a wonderful pattern for a slightly different than normal apple cosy on an American site, Michaels, but as it is an American pattern it uses #4 Medium Worsted yarn.  Our nearest equivalent is Aran weight yarn (but I have recently found out by error that our Aran is slightly thicker than Medium Worsted making a stiffer fabric) so I decided that I would re-work the pattern using UK Double Knitting weight yarn (with an apple as a measurement guide!) and make the pattern available for free as the original is too.

I know it is a bit short notice for end of term gifts but you can make them for friends and family and save the pattern for gifts for next year!

(Here is the link for the pattern for Apple Cosy if you want to see the original.)

Pattern uses UK terminology.

A  lightweight blanket for baby, perfect for warmer months due to the airy, open patterned motifs, the pattern for which is from a retro 1970′s booklet.

Each square motif has a central square of filet crochet that is then turned on its point to make a diamond, crochet shells are then added on the sides to become the corner points for the new square which is then worked in rounds of sky blue.

This blanket is is made from 36 individual squares that have been sewn together and then a border crocheted around the entire blanket before being finished off with a corded effect edge as a further detail and texture.

Blanket measures 31″/79cm each side.

The blanket has been handmade and crocheted using baby soft acrylic yarn, which not only reduces the risks of wool allergies but it is easy to care for as it is both durable and fully machine washable (on a delicate cycle).

A wonderful pair of retro inspired cushion covers, based on the traditional granny square but brought up to date with a modern colour scheme.

Vibrant in purple and sage green, these cushion covers have been hand crocheted by Loves a good yarn.  Each cushion cover is the opposite colourway of its partner which can be seen in the pictures.

One side of the cushion cover has been crocheted by hand in a granny style of alternating colour clusters and the other side of the cover is a solid crochet square that has then been finished with a contrast colour edging strip.

The cushion covers have been crocheted together creating a strong seam around 3 sides and the opening has been extended on one side so that clear buttons can be sewn on, these buttons are placed so that they will fasten the cushion cover through the spaces between the crochet pieces on the front.

Each cushion covers measures approx 14″/35.5cm, for a plumper effect use a 16″ cushion pad for a slimmer effect use a 14″ cushion pad.  (Covers have been photographed with 16″ cushions pads)

These wonderful cushion covers are can be made in any colour so if you have a particular colour scheme in mind, then please do not hesitate to contact me as I can make any item to order.

100% acrylic yarn has been used as it is both durable and easy to care for as these covers are fully machine washable (on a 40 degree wool/delicate cycle).

Clear acrylic buttons have been used as they will not detract from the overall colour scheme of the cushion covers and will effectively give an invisible fastening.
